Europe eSIM

No two Europe plans list the same countries. Of these 27, 17 include both the UK and Switzerland, 13 include Turkey, and 8 leave out France. Check every stop on your route, not just the first one.

If your phone plan is from an EU country, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, the EU's roam-like-at-home rule already covers you in those countries and, since January 2026, in Ukraine and Moldova. You may not need an eSIM there at all. The rule doesn't apply in the UK, and Switzerland isn't on the list either. It does nothing for phone plans from outside Europe.

When you cross a border, the eSIM moves to a network in the next country by itself. In the European Commission's 2025 roaming study, that handover sometimes took more than 10 minutes. If you still have no signal after that, turn airplane mode on and off, or choose a network manually in your mobile settings.

Each plan lists the network it uses in every country and where its traffic exits to the internet.
