China, Hong Kong and Macao eSIM: compare the whole route
A mainland China plan and a Hong Kong plan have different coverage. Verify every stop before comparing a shared card with separate plans.

Check all three destinations separately
Open the mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao plan page. Confirm mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao each appear in the coverage list for the card you choose.
Also compare mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao country plans if you prefer separate cards. A regional name or a large country count cannot replace the list of places actually covered.
Check your phone and installation location
eSIM support depends on the exact phone model and purchase region. Start with the device compatibility page, including the manufacturer’s regional rules, rather than assuming every iPhone or Android phone supports a travel eSIM.
If your model requires being outside mainland China to install a travel eSIM, decide where you can install it before purchasing. Then check the plan’s start event so installation does not use up validity earlier than intended.
Budget the complete route
For an illustrative four days in mainland China, two in Hong Kong and one in Macao, compare a shared card for all seven days. Its total allowance is shared by the whole route; crossing a border does not reset it.
If buying separate plans, add the full price of each actual tier and check each start event. Purchased validity can exceed the length of a stop. A shared card is convenient only if its allowance, networks and validity fit every stop.
Read networks and application limits
Check the listed local networks for each destination and the application restrictions on the actual plan. A destination’s inclusion in the coverage list does not guarantee every application, a particular speed or reception at every location.
Keep access to your existing number separate from the travel data line. Review activation timing and installation instructions before travelling; use the Android guide if that is your phone.
