Choosing an eSIM for Thailand

These 62 plans use AIS, TrueMove H, and dtac. Thailand has two network groups behind three brands: AIS, and True Corporation, formed when True and dtac merged in March 2023, which runs TrueMove H and dtac on one combined network. In Opensignal's August 2026 Thailand report (April to June data), dtac and True shared Best Network on that combined network, and AIS won the most awards.

None of these plans exits in Thailand: 39 state an exit in Indonesia, Hong Kong, or Singapore, so websites see an IP address there rather than a Thai one. Each plan's “IP exit” is in its details.

Another 23 don't state an exit.

Every foreign visitor fills in the free digital arrival card in the three days before arriving, by air, land or sea. Visa-free stays for British passports were cut to 30 days on 15 September 2026. See Thailand's TDAC.

Thailand eSIM networks compared

Thailand plans here use 3 local networks: AIS, TrueMove H, and dtac. Some plans stay on one network; others list several and connect to whichever has signal.

  • AIS 5G 40 plans · 39 on this network only · Per day / Total data
  • TrueMove H 5G 19 plans · 1 on this network only · Per day / Total data / Unlimited
  • dtac 5G 18 plans · Per day / Total data

Signal depends on where you are. For a specific place, check the operator’s coverage map.

About eSIMs for Thailand

Do I need a Thai phone number?

Most travellers don't: WhatsApp and LINE keep working on your existing account. Whether a plan includes a Thai number is in its details.

Can I pay by scanning Thai QR codes?

Only with an app linked to Thai QR. The Bank of Thailand lists links with China (UnionPay, Alipay, WeChat Pay), Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and some neighbouring countries. The UK, US, Australia, India and the EU aren't on that list, so travellers from there pay by card or cash.

Which operators will my phone use in Thailand?

AIS, TrueMove H, dtac. Which one you connect to depends on local signal.

Where in Thailand can I use it?

Anywhere the plan’s networks have signal, including Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai; rural and mountain areas depend on local coverage.

Is 5G supported?

Yes. Operators here are listed with 5G; each plan's networks show which.

What happens when the data runs out?

It depends on the plan: some keep a usable speed of 1 Mbps; others drop to 128 Kbps / 384 Kbps / 512 Kbps, which is enough for messaging; others stop data.

When does the validity start?

It depends on the plan: first connection, installation or purchase. See Validity starts in the plan details.

Are there unlimited plans?

Yes. There's no total data cap; any speed limit shown on the plan still applies.

Can I use a hotspot to share data in Thailand?

22 of these plans state personal hotspot support, so you can share data with a laptop or travel companions. It comes out of this eSIM’s allowance. Look for “Personal hotspot” in the plan details.

Can I install the same eSIM on a second phone?

No. Each QR code installs once. If you delete the eSIM or reset the phone, it can't be installed again, and once it has connected to a network it can't be refunded.

Can I top up data or extend validity?

Some plans add data, some add days, and some can't be topped up; each plan says which. Top up from the eSIM in My eSIMs. There's nothing new to install.

Are these prices tax inclusive?

Yes. The listed price is the final price.
